Crystal Palace Football Club was formed in 1905 and is based in the south London suburb of Selhurst. They currently play their home matches at Selhurst Park, which has a capacity of around 26,000 spectators. The record attendance at Selhurst Park was 51,482 in a game against Burnley in 1979. Palace (as they are commonly referred to) have never won the English Premier League, but they have had some notable successes over the years. They were runners-up in the 1990 FA Cup final and have finished as high as third in the top flight of English football. The club’s nickname is the Eagles, which is a nod to the eagle featured on their crest. One of their most famous players was Ian Wright, who played for the club in the late 1980s and early 1990s and scored over 100 goals in just over 200 appearances. Other notable players include Wilfried Zaha, who has been a key player for the club in recent years, and Mark Bright, who scored over 100 goals for the Eagles in the 1980s and 1990s. They were the first club to install a giant video screen at their stadium, which they did in 1978.  Crystal Palace have a longstanding rivalry with nearby club Brighton & Hove Albion, with whom they contest the M23 Derby. Crystal Palace FC have had a tumultuous history, including several periods of financial difficulty and some near misses with relegation. However, they have always been a club with a strong sense of community and a passionate fanbase.
